Art Therapy for Adults Singapore

What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is the process where art is used to help people to improve their personal well-being mentally and spiritually. Art Therapy is commonly used by mental health professionals to facilitate the peaceful feelings in people. At Heartroom Gallery, we do not claim to be professionals at Art Therapy. However, it’s the way that we do things that help people find their peace.

I am a patient who suffers from severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. The illness has caused me excruciating pain and great inconvenience. Needless to say, it affected my daily life. Thankfully, I happened to chance upon Heartroom Gallery on a faithful day and got to know Mei Ho, the Principal Artist. She’s been a wonderful teacher turned friend and mentor since. At Heartroom Gallery, I feel the warmth, the tremendous peace, and comfort whenever I paint. The pleasantly relaxing and cozy environment has allowed me to forget momentarily, the immense pain the illness has brought me. Most of all, from the painting lessons with Mei, I have also regained my self-confidence and self-worth and become worry free. That has certainly meant the world to me. I cannot thank you enough, Mei Ho and Heartroom Gallery.

What do we do at Heartroom Gallery?

Our various art classes at the Heartroom Gallery are not structured or too technical. Our classes are for people to learn a new hobby and to enjoy the process of creating their own beautiful work of art. It is trough the process of painting that a certain therapy through art is achieved. Some people prefer acrylic painting on canvas for its freedom of creating an artwork on a piece of canvas. While others prefer the simplicity of Tole Painting where students focus more on brush stroke work painting on practical wooden keepsake boxes and even on furniture that they can take home to use. Whatever the preference, there is something for those seeking to relieve themselves of the problems they face. Our students have often expressed that the Heartroom Gallery is one of a kind.

    Dear Mei,

I am Bian from Ang Mo Kio Methodist church who spoke to you earlier today.

The WSCS which I now serve is looking at conducting an art therapy class for our members.
We would like the class to be done in our church and we reckoned that we could get about 10-15
to attend. We can do this class on a Saturday morning or afternoon.

Do let us know what you can offer together with your charges for our consideration.

Thank you and have a blessed week ahead.

    In His love,
    Bian
