Art Therapy is the process where art is used to help people to improve their personal well-being mentally and spiritually. Art Therapy is commonly used by mental health professionals to facilitate the peaceful feelings in people. At Heartroom Gallery, we do not claim to be professionals at Art Therapy. However, it’s the way that we do things that help people find their peace.
Art Therapy has many advantages. The main benefits of therapy through art are:
Art Therapy is for individuals, couples, and families. It is for those who want to participate in a process of creating beautiful works of art where the process takes their minds off the stress that they are going through. It is for those who want to foster and build upon their own interpersonal relationships with others by doing an activity together. Art therapy is for bonding and helping people to reconnect with their emotional selves. Finally, painting art is also for people recovering from some form of sickness or pain. We believe that painting is one of the best ways to deal with recovery where the state of the mind is an important part of the recovery process.
Our various art classes at the Heartroom Gallery are not structured or too technical. Our classes are for people to learn a new hobby and to enjoy the process of creating their own beautiful work of art. It is through the process of painting that a certain therapy through art is achieved. Some people prefer acrylic painting on canvas for its freedom of creating artwork on a piece of canvas. While others prefer the simplicity of Tole Painting where students focus more on brushstroke work painting on practical wooden keepsake boxes and even on furniture that they can take home to use. Whatever the preference, there is something for those seeking to relieve themselves of the problems they face. Our students have often expressed that the Heartroom Gallery is one of a kind.
